What if you have a character with two arcane spellcasting classes who takes levels in GSA, and gives the "+1 level" to one class and "+1 caster level" to the other one?
One gets a +1 to spells known/spells per day/caster level and the other one just gets +1 to caster level.
Note that it's +1 to caster level for EACH class level, not just the even ones. Since it's a completely separate ability, this and the spell advancement don't seem to be linked.
The example they use to demonstrate how it works does NOT use your parameters. It shows that the levels which give you +1 spellcasting ability overlap the +1 caster level where applied.
To take the sample character you use in #2 above (Wizard 1, Warmage 7), you would have +4 spellcasting levels and +4 caster levels to distribute.
Umm, no. By the RAW, he has +8 caster levels and +4 spellcasting levels. If your interpretation was right, then it's really "full benefits of both" (he'll be the equivalent of a Wiz 5 (CL 5), plus a Warmage 7 with CL 15)

You clearly didn't read the example in the text of the special ability and do the math. Are you saying the example is wrong? If so, why?
