Well, there is a Doom and a few other names on the tip of my

Despise and I think Destard is what stuck to my mind.
Yeah, them's it! (Despair is all that would pop in my head but
that's a continent.)
Which one?
Both.
Perhaps I'll just go with maned (drake) dragon, from using
Mickmane on IRC (too lazy to think of a nickname so just swapped
a few letters), and the critters I made up (but don't want to
spam about here).
Spam? Spam? You really don't have the hang of it yet, do you?
Of spamming? No. Not really. <g>
No, about not wanting to spam here. Talking about critters you make
up isn't exactly spam around here. That's just normal everyday sorts
of stuff. Nearly everything is normal everyday sorts of stuff.
Everything abnormal is everyday sorts of stuff.
Pretty much anything goes. C'mon, pibbur is posting about making
coffee. :-)
But making coffee is an essential in life!
To ramble a bit, once upon a time I got fed up with published books
and started writing my own. At one point I was wondering what would
be a nice character (or rather species) trait, and came to talons.
Then scales (partly scaled, part skin) was added, and fangs, and
wings and stuff. That's the people. They're distantly related to
drakes (mini dragons, not male ducks), who are fully scaled (but
have a mane like people's hair), and are also characters in the
story I started writing when I saw the first scene. (People and
drakes are friends.)
I based the different tribes on colours, from black to white, or
rather to violet (black, brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue,
gray, white, violet - I had to put violet at the end for proper
balance, and yes, besides that it's resistor colour code :) ),
putting some thought into giving each colour a term that would make
sense in context with the others, ending up with Night, Earth,
Autumn, Fire, Summer, Water, Spring, Air, Winter, and Magic (half
seasons, half elements, alternating and with the odd ones framing
the others).
So magic is violet? Cool. Purple's my favorite color.
While writing my backbrain expanded on those base parameters, so I
ended up with quite different tribes (and the magic each has). Oh,
and they also have a gender system that's a bit different. (Two kind
of males, two kind of neutrals, one kind of females, plus an odd
rare female kind that's more the result of an accident. A very long
ago accident. The drakes only have two male genders and one each of
the others.)
If you do want to be spammed: Some of my sigs have a link to some
excerpts someone put online for me. (Me very proud of making the
intro page manually without a clue about html. <g>) There's close to
10% of the beginning of each first book of my two bigger stories.
The second scene in the S&E thing is what I saw while wondering
about colours and talons and stuff. (The first one was added later,
so something happening in the second book doesn't come out of the
blue - until then I, and the characters, thought these people were
dead.)
I'd have to deal with that later. You're not aware of my fun little
eye surgery from six months ago, and reading (especially online) is
still a difficulty. I'm just now attempting to read an actual printed
book again.
As for the html, you've managed lists and links and headers. Probably
about where I started. I don't have a clue either. I look up tags in
the back of the book I never read and play with it until it does what
I want. :-) Although I have progressed beyond where you're at, and
granted, I did actually read parts of a couple of chapters in the book
because it became necessary.
And my, is there rambling going on... :) (It's one of the things I
want to fix but don't know how.)
You haven't seen *me* ramble yet. LOL. I've not figured out the art
of taking what should be a paragraph and making it less than 10 pages.
I'd only have to settle on a colour then. Winter (white) is my
favorite season, but with Spring (blue) at least the dark ones
are the most dangerous, and Night (black) match my cycle much
better...
Black. Black. I vote for black. (Do I get a vote?)
Heh. I quite like that too. I could even be a Winter Night drake
(there's precedence in the story). :)
Oooh, that's good too.
And they have genders/castes, too, to pick something appropriate
from.
Oh, the choices. <g>
No, no. You're already a gender and I don't think we have the
kind of doctor who can fix that.
No way. Women are weird, and definitely a different species than I
am. Oh, and my drakes only have Breeders as females, and that's as
far from me as you can get.
Well, woman are a difference species than I am too. And I don't plan
on breeding either. I'd be tempted to say that any of the women who
hang around this place, and put up with the men folk, are not really
quite normal women. :-)
(And if he could do it, I don't think pibbur would want to convert
one of the few females we have.)
But you can't count me as female. Nature just made a mistake when
attaching those parts. The rest has old grannies call me 'young
man', even with long hair! <g>
(6-foot kid scare, you wouldn't want to meet me in the dark.)
Oh, and one of the few times I went out wearing a dress and other
women stuff, the guy at the counter asked the aquaintance I was
there with whether I'm a 'reconstructed' (meaning having had an
operation from man to woman). Admittedly, it was a night club with
80% gay guests, but still... :)
I have a background in theatre -- I probably wouldn't notice. As for
dresses... exactly what is a dress again? I think might've worn one
of those once at like a wedding or job interview or something.
But going by those I know (characters I made up), one of the
Winter Lord (drakes) suits me best. He's a silly bugger. :) And
Winter Lord dragon doesn't sound too bad.
That's good, and not taken. :-) Of course, my vote for black
would become null and void, unless you're a strange sort of
winter.
I've got a strange sort of precedence for that. :) (One of the
people ends up a Winter Night Warrior Lord, during the course of the
story.)
And white with thin black patterns wouldn't look too bad, either.
Whatever you like. I personally am purple metallic.
dragon with a small d - isn't that blasphemous or something?
Hm. Could be. It's just my drakes that aren't capitalized (there's
enough capitalization going on already).
Yes, but there's dragons and there are Dragons. And drakes are
different.
