You need to learn to read. :-) I've heard that cable, at least around
here, really stinks. I also have never known if you have to already
have cable to get it. The house is cable-ready but I don't have it.

Yes, I made a mistake. Also I made a second one which was mixing up
cable with DSL.

Well, if your connection to the torture thing breaks whereas the rest
of the connection does not then it is definitely their cup of tea to
fix.

The torture thing. :-) I love teaching, and doing it online has many
advantages. Glitches are going to happen here and there, of course.
But the problems started when they replaced our old board with this
Flash piece of garbage, and we've had trouble with *everything* ever
since. (That was over two years ago!)

My brother's thoroughly convinced the tech people know darn well that
it's a problem, but they're having to deal with what some "suit"
decided they were doing. Someone sold someone on this new board, with
wonderful stories about its wonderful features. Which are of course
outweighed by the crap. They also don't decide the priorities -- some
bozo somewhere who most assuredly doesn't use the thing is making
those decisions. (Which is nearly always the case.) The guys who
email me do some of the testing and tweaking, but there's at least one
programmer over their heads. And they have to be careful what they
say. (Oh, to get one of them out drunk in a bar some time... :-))

OK... I go off on tangents about work often enough. I probably don't
need to be starting another one. It's just that I can't seem to get
over the fact that we're having the same problems we had two years ago
and I'm still reporting the same problems. And apparently six people
can't fix it.
