You can use a command line switch in your Explorer shortcut to do that.
/e tells explorer to use the two pane view, so this is the shortcut I use
in my shortcut where it says "target",

%windir%\explorer.exe /e,c:\

That opens explorer with two panes and starts with the C:\ drive selected.

WinXP proposed 'Disorgan' for mine, so I stuck with it. Seemed amusing.

I wonder what Fortran would say?
