So...you're not using IPv6 for your LAN yet? Let me guess - you loaded
Windows 95 from diskettes, didn't you? ;PP
Heheh.
I honestly did consider switching over to IPv6, but decided against it
for the same reason I just had to have a 10.0.0.x ip; too many
gosh-darn numbers to remember!
Plus, 10.0.0.x is much easier to type when I'm configuring some
network-aware software (like, say, Quake ;-).
As an aside, my new computer has a floppy drive. I refuse to let the
floppy drive die (I still keep a couple older machines with ISA around
for the same reason* ;-). Nothing like coupling a modern 2st century
computer with a technology developed back in the '60s.
* actually, there's only ONE reason I still give a damn about ISA: my
Gravis Ultrasound Max soundcard, circa 1994. Big, red, awesome
wavetable sound (for its time); I have very very fond memories of my
GUS Max. It alone is the reason that the 486DX33 still has been
chucked out into the trash (although neither the 486 nor the GUS Max
are plugged into anything; the PC collects dust in a corner, and the
GUS Max is lovingly wrapped in an antistatic bag and hidden in a
closet. Just because I have fond memories of it doesn't mean I
actually want to USE something so obsolete ;-)
