Maybe I will graduate someday...

I would like to finish graduate school pretty soon. When I cam here I was thinking I'd make use of their direct PhD program, but the research I thought sounded quite cool appeared notably less cool after having gotten into it a little. Thus I have gone off in a fairly unrelated direction, which my advisor found interesting, but which is not attracting many potential committee members.

I guess when you get down to it, there's really no incentive to be on a grad student's committee...Maybe I should break out the cash?

At present I have a thesis moving forward, some paperwork not filled out, an advisor I can never seem to get hold of. Getting hold of Mr. Advisor is a prerequisite to the paperwork, the paperwork is a prerequisite for setting a defense date, and a defense date is a prerequisite for the darned degree!

I am continuing to do work that needs to be done but I am finding it very hard to focus on it when I am stuck in limbo. Growl. :-(

As time goes on I look back and figure had I just looked for a job when I graduated and been employed I may have been better off.

PS: Thunderbird insists on "adviser" instead of "advisor" but I think the former looks stupid. :-O
