Re: Official "Who's the Luddite" thread, was Re: TVs

Because Dragons like pointless surveys. :D

Broadband internet? Yes, thank goodness.

Cable TV? Nope.

Own iPod or MP3 player? Yes, but it's an MP3 player in the shape of a
cassette so it will still work in my no-CD car stereo, which I reckon
should get me a few bonus luddite points.

Listen to podcasts? Can't be bothered. That's what the radio is for.

Owns a cellphone? For ten years now, but I'm a journalist. It's a tool
of the trade these days.

Knows what texting is? Si.

Has large screen TV with surround sound? Well, there's one in my
household, but it doesn't belong to me. Half marks? :)

Has an answering machine? Yes.

Has a digital camera? Yes, but it's only 2Mpx and I don't plan to
upgrade.

Has a hacked "disposable" digital camcorder? I don't even know they
made disposable digital camcorders.

Has a scanner? Yes, but it's Win9x only, so it's currently not hooked
up to anything.

Primary car has GPS or a radio or requires a computer in the engine
compartment?

I'd say those three are very distinct, and don't all belong in the same
category. Every car built since about 1960 has a radio in it, and any
car less than ten years old has an EMU. GPS, OTOH, is still
comparatively unusual, and unless one drives for a living, usually just
for gadget love.

Currently using how many computers within range of one chair?

Two functional PCs, one Pentium-class machine with a few components
missing, one 486 laptop my sister melted the corner of a while back, and
one 286 luggable with a failed hard disk. It still boots from floppies!
:D
