Those polls were conducted among Forum users. Sam does poorly on the
Forum. But, among those who look only at the Chess Life campaigning,
Sam will do well. His statements there are appealing to less
sophisticated voters.
Another candidate that will do better overall than on this Forum is
Susan. She doesn't get a lot of support here, but I think she's a
shoo-in overall.

I expect Susan to be elected. Sam will do better with all voters than
with forum readers, but the word is out regarding what sort of board
member he has been, and he won't finish in the top six.

It is true that I will do better out in the real world than I do on
the USCF Forums, but what is the reason?
The reason is that the Forum is inhabited by a small but determined
group who have nothing better to do with their lives but attack me all
time.
Included in this small group are tanstaafl, whose real name is Herbert
Rodney Vaughn, who has posted more than two thousand times attacking
me, John Hillary, more than one thousand attacks, and Mark Nibbelin,
more than one thousand attacks.
A few of these persistent attackers have dropped out. SteveTN has
spent more than five years attacking me every day but recently has
found other people to attack. Chris Falter, the religious nut from
South Carolina, has simply dropped out and no longer posts.
Any casual reader of the Forum would believe that there is a
tremendous groundswell of public opinion against me, when what is
really going on here is the same small group attacking me over and
over again every day.
Another factor is that several of the regular posters who have tended
to side with me on the issues have been moderated, suspended or banned
from the Forum. There are many examples. One is oldtimer who made many
valuable postings but for that reason was suspended and is no longer
allowed to post. Also, Bill Goichberg selected moderators known to be
hostile to me and to actively oppose my candidacy, such as Gregory
Alexander who has a history of deleting any posting favorable to me.
Gregory Alexander is also the person who conducted the poll on his
website which shows that I will be defeated. Anybody going to the
Gregory Alexander website, registering and voting there will naturally
tend to be someone opposed to my candidacy.
I just spent five days playing in the World Open in Valley Forge,
Pennsylvania. There were more than one thousand chess players there
and I had the opportunity to speak to many of them. No other candidate
was there. Among those who were familiar with the attacks on me and
expressed an opinion on them, not one of them expressed any credence
regarding these attacks.

I remember before OMOV when you were calling me up in Lynchburg, VA
for help. Who cares? This totally mises the point. Last election, only
5% of the memerbship voted. With such a small sample, even you can
win.
Let me tell you a little secret! You only win with small sample sizes.
That is, you can only WIN in an election which has less than 10% of
the USCF memerbship. You are a freak of statistics. That is, you only
win when the voter sample size is SMALL.
i think you still have good chanes, because I am still not positive I
will even bother to vote. The voter pool is so disgusted, even you can
wiin! Kirsan Ilyumzniov, Bobby Fischer, and Sam Sloan. All have
chances of being elected!
If you try to make the sample size SMALL, you will get re-elected.
Goichberg thinks he has a 10% turnout, and I agree with you that he is
overly ambitious.
