You've hit on it. It's the memory deficiency. Even when I deleted the
last 18 moves, leaving only the game up to where resignation was
reasonable, the analysis stopped early. No runtime error this time, but
it just stopped. I'm due for new machine, so I won't bother upgrading
memory.

The cinputer is Dell Dimension 4300. It runs Windows XP Home. Speed
is 1.66Gh. I have 256MB of memory. Error message said "Runtime
Errorand gave a
number I think as 1101 or 11 something. The PGN file was simply a
game I played with CM9K and cleaned up and saved as a PGN file. Fritz
installed the dame okay and proceeded to anallyze it, but then came
the runtime error. Twice in, I pretty sure, the same place in the
dame. Move 34 of the 52-move game. As you may know, Fritz works from
the last move backwards to the first. It's Fritz 9.0.

256mb is very low for a pc running fritz9. Check the memory spec
for Fritz9 as i am sure it requires a lot more then 256mb runnimg with
xp.
256mb is the absolute minimum for xp and is unlikely to run a memory
intensive application like fritz9 very well.
An error in the pgn filr should not cause a runtime error.
