I decided to dl the trial version, and I found the interface for
editing
cumbersome.
First I dl some .pgn files from chessopolis. I dl'ed the alekhine
defense file
and created a 'book'. I went through the first couple of moves and
tried to
edit the moves. What I discovered was that each 'position' could only
be
edited, not each individual move (unless I am missing something). I
was
also hoping that I could edit a +=- beside each move (I ran the
position
through fritz and I wanted to edit that into the position.) I also
found that the
text boxes and drop down menu in the top right panel cumbersome. I
have
yet to find an explaination in the help on what they are for, and if
you type
something into the textboxes, its next to impossible to get the focus
back to
selecting the moves below.
Also as soon as you single click on one of the moves in the list, it
selects it
and moves it. This should be a doubleclick. I was trying to 'get
focus' on one
of the moves and couldnt do it with my mouse, I found that I had to
click on the
background and then manually do it with my arrow keys.
Although I highly thank you for offering a 'free demo'. The functions
that I want
are in the professional version. I could justify $30 for that but I
feel that
$129 US is far too steep. I realize you have to make a living too, but
at that
price, many people will not bother. (same reasons why I haven't bought
Chessbase or ChessAssistant).
To the original poster...
I too have yet to find the 'perfect' opening trainer, but bookup seems
to be
the best out on the market right now.
