Re: Tbs vs. 50-move rule

I've read three of them and I remain unconvinced. The purpose of
communication is to impart information clearly, with minimal speed bumps.
Bottom posting is a huge speed bump for me in threads I've been following.
For threads I have not followed, I prefer to read each post in order, giving
preference to those that have been top posted. There is nothing more
irritating (in newsgroup reading, that is) than to have to take my hands off
keyboard and scroll down four screens to read a silly, one-line response.

One of the posts you quote was posted in 2001. I have a feeling it's even
older than that because the writer refers to what are in his view the
unwashed masses. Sounds like silliness from around a decade earlier, when
geeks who still ruled the net were crapping in their pants about Aunt Tilly
getting an email account. Thank goodness that is no longer true.

I think you would be surprised to learn that most usenet posters prefer top
posting, especially when the correspondent clips or edits the original post.
