Re: Random dealer software?

program?  Do they need to change a seed number or some other setting?

I am the author of Dealmaster Pro and can assure you with absolute
certainty that there is no program available that produces random
deals more accurately than DM Pro. We have created millions of random
deals with the program and compared the shapes and other data to the
standard expected shapes shown in the Official Encyclopedia of Bridge.
The variances from standard for any sizeable sample is always within
statistically acceptable values. The DM Pro Help file topic "BigDeal"
has a extensive discussion of this. Every time a user creates random
deals, he is invited (we always encourage users to do this) to add the
new deals to a statistical summary. The printed result, after
3000-5000 deals have been created always shows the accuracy of the
dealer.

Any user can easily create 50,000 random deals very quickly and get a
statistical summary of the shapes, the number of times each card (A,
K, Q etc) is a singleton and HCP's for each hand. To do this, simply
create a file named FIFTYM.TXT in the DM Pro folder and run the option
to Create Deals for club play. In addition, every current shipment
(and every update to the currrent version) contains a PDF file
showing such a summary. We cover this extensively under "FAQ's".

I have a standard offer of $1000. to the first person who can prove
that Dealmaster Pro does not create deals which conform to the
standard shapes as shown in the ACBL Official Encyclopedia of Bridge.
By "conform", I mean that the difference between DM Pro's percentage
for a given shape is within reason of the Standard Expected percentage
from the Bridge Encyclopedia.
