I've been playing 2/1 GF for most of my bridge lifetime and, as is
popular in my area, play the 2/1 response as 100% game-forcing (except
maybe giving up in 4m). Hands where responder has an invitational hand
with a 6-card minor, though, are quite awkward, even if you play
Gazzilli after a forcing notrump. eg, 1h-1n;2h-3d - is this signoff or
invitational? So I've been wanting to at least try out playing "GF
unless suit rebid" and see how well it works. Obviously it handles those
problem hands better, but how does it cope with truly one-suited
game-forces? For example:

AQx
x
AKJTxxx
xx

1h  2d
2h  ??

I assume 2s here guarantees four, and I expect 2n to usually have two
hearts AND a club stopper. So how does one typically handle these hand
types? Perhaps by allowing opener to rebid 2s without extras, so that
responder's 2s here no longer suggests spades as trump?

Also, if anyone has played both methods and has strong recommendations
about which way is better I'd be happy to hear them.

I prefer to have artificial responses with some relays after a 2/1.
This way, with a GF you can just relay and ask more information.

After 1M-2m the basis is:
step 1 = min, no 4OM (now step is relay and you respond like you'd do
immediately with step 3+)
step 2 = 4OM, any strength (step is relay, artificial responses)
step 3 and higher = max, no 4OM

That's an interesting setup.  (I wish i had thought of it!)  Can
anyone confirm whether this is GCC legal if (1) the 2/1 is GF or (2)
if the 2/1 is GF unless responder bids and rebids his minor suit?

I believe this is GCC in either case, because the 2m response itself
is not a relay ask (it isn't even artificial!), and, once you get to
the second round of the auction, essentially anything is allowed.
(The definition of a illegal "relay system" is that the relay ask
occurs before opener's rebid. Here, the earliest possible relay ask
occurs *after* opener's rebid.)
