1.) 1C-1H-2NT-3D (major-suit checkback)-3NT-4C
It means "let's play clubs although if you have three hearts, let's
try that". I can't quite make out why this sequence was chosen and
not 1C-1H-2NT-3S-3NT-4C, so It's not 100% it's forcing if the latter
one would be.
2.) 1NT-2S (minor suit stayman)-3C-3H (agrees clubs, shortness)-3S-4C
Invitational. 3 Spades should show something, presumably controls.
That being the case, I would think that responder either lacks a spade
control or does not wish to go beyond 4 Clubs without some
encouragement. This points to weakness in one of the minors.
However, I agree this sequence, as well as the previous one, is
slightly obscure and argues that the partnership has not discussed MSS
in sufficient detail before agreeing to play it.
3.) 1D-(opponent bids 1S)-3S (splinter in support of diamonds)-3NT-4D
Again, looks like insufficoent discussion. This is a slam try
according to my partnership's agreed-on methods, denying the CA. A
suit call is control-showing, 4NT says "Forget it. We're playing
4NT."
