So, Henry and Steven are playing IMPs last night and have this
auction:
Opener Responder
1C 1S
2H 3H
3S 4C
What is responder's basic shape, and is 4C forcing?
More anon.

Thanks to all who responded.

Responder actually held this hand:

Qxxxx
KQxx
x
Txx

In the context of this auction, is 4C

A - the worst bid in bridge history
B - insanely aggressive
C - aggressive
D - reasonable, but I wouldn't bid it
E - what I would have bid on the hand

And I forgot to add, how many prefer 4H to 3H as responder's second
bid?

Oops, my other post seems like it might be wrong.
Lawrence says

Opener Responder
1S 2C
2D 4S

"When opener rebids 2D, responder's jump to game shows a hand
with good club and spade values and denies a red suit control."

>>> Opener Responder
>>> 1C 1S
>>> 2H 3H
>>> 3S 4C

I think by analogy then that a jump to 4H (instead of rebid 3H)
would show good spade and heart values and would deny having
a control in diamonds and clubs. Well all of responder's values
are in spades and hearts, but, responder does have a singleton
diamond... I tend to think it meant a high card control.

I think the 4H bid definitely has to be given more credit as
a pretty good choice. It doesn't justify a pass though because
give responder >> Qxxxx KQxx x Kxx and 3H is likely the right
bid and also 4C. Responder didn't have what he should have
had but opener doesn't know that when he passes 4C.
