Some of this has already been stated. But, to recap:
I start with 2C. If partner bids 2M, I also could bid 3OM, which
starts cuebidding and serious 3NT and Last Train. But, I expect his
most likely cue to be 4C, which will muddy the waters later. I think
that it is more practical to simply jump to 5C Exclusion 1430. When
he shows 1 (the only relevant answer) with 5D, I'll ask for the trump
Queen. If he has it, he will bid 5NT showing no useful kings. I will
then make a grand try by bidding 6H (if spades are trumps) or 6C (if
hearts are trumps).
Unfortunately, partner bids 2D. I now bid 3H Smolen. Had he bid 3S,
I now want to cue, because he can cue the heart Queen below 4S, in
theory. I can cue 3NT (Serious) and expect to hear 4C (two of the top
three clubs). If not, I am really excited. Most likely, that's his
call, though. So, I bid 4D, hoping to hear 4H. If he can cue the
heart Queen, I'll launch Exclusion. If not, I'll launch 4NT, because
I want to find the club Ace-King for two heart pitches.
Unfortunately, however, partner bids 3NT. Two spades, two or three
hearts. Nine minor cards. So, I bid 4D. If he grimaces, that's his
problem. This is not that difficult. If he agrees diamonds, he
should bid 4H, IMO. This is a flag, noting agreement, allowing me to
bid 4NT with a mild slam try hand or 4S, now out-of-focus, as 1430
Exclusion RKCB (I must have a club void). When he answers one (5D), I
bid 6C, a general grand try, because I need a lot. If he has the two
major Queens, he knows that I am making a grand try without them and
will go. If he has the spade Queen, and the A-K of clubs, hopefully
that looks good also.
It sounds like, however, he's picking spades on a doubleton Qx. He
declined 4NT, which is strange, suggesting that his clubs are not that
good. (I'm assuming that 4H accepts diamonds, of course.) I expect
that partner may well have the golden QJ-QJx-AJx-Axxxx, or something
really close to that. I can drop any side Jack and make seven, and
the odds may favor 7S without the spade Jack. So, I'll jump to 6C, a
VERY strong suggestion that the grand is there if Opener has a lot of
body in my two suits, but not necessarily top honors. If he
understands this, great! If not, we are no worse off. He will
grimace again and bid 6S, I assume.
