nice effort guys ...here goes the next step..although Ken has made a
good effort...4C can be played as support in H with prior agreement
which is not so common..and i think 5S has lot of ambiguity in
bidding..
however,
here my partner found a good bid (yes i think good bid) ..he bid 5H
over my 3S..
2C-2D-2H-2S-3S-5H ..
what do you think about the 5H without looking at my partner's
hand ..what is your assumption about his holding...this is very
important to reach the grand slam may be..
here looking at my hand..i know partner is telling a good H fit likely
with K as he is denying any minor cue and still he is inviting for
slam...sounds interesting? ..
My hand could be as good as just 22/23 points and 5/4...taking that
into consideration he has made 5H...Here i could not visualise the
grand slam possibility ...I bid 6H ..other table played in 4H..so we
gained..
but that is a different story..if i could make a 6D bid..asking for QD
to bid grand slam ..partner would have bid the grand even with xxx in
S and Qxx in D ...and it goes down there ..in this case it would have
been a grand success although..
rather probably 5H shows values in H and S and no convenient minor
cues ?
so did i make a mistake of not bidding 6D ? ...Although partner gave
me the benefit and i was not blamed for missing the grand...
what is your take?..now you know the full story.

6H is a reasonable spot for most systems. Eric seems to have the
right gadgets to find 7 with his style. Playing Acol 2-Bids, my
auction would go:
2C - 2D (Negative, not Waiting)
2H - 4H (2H is a game force, 4H is slight values, 4-card trump
support, no side ace or king)
NOTE: 3H by Responder would be a fit and no values promised. A new
suit might be a side value prior to support.
4S - 5D (4S is a slam move, 5D is the diamond Queen)
5S - 7H (5S is a grand slam try, heart king and spade doubleton is
enough)
