The Vugraph Project team is proudly announcing
yet another major offering from the past,
the Italy v North America match from the 1959 Bermuda Bowl.

You can find all the deals of the match
at:
http://www.sarantakos.com/bridge/vugraph/1959/1959-bb.html

Kudos for this offering goes to Patrick Flynn who
did all the work and also offers the "interactive" pf-format
of lin files.

If you have previously downloaded the first segments from
our page, you may want to download them again, because
some minor errors have now been corrected.
+++++++++++++
I do wonder why the players in each position are not specified
on
the
movie. This was done in earlier movies and clearly adds to the
viewing
to
know who is sitting N,S, etc.

I've just looked at a random selection of deals, using BBO
software -
they
all seem fine to me - all four player names are given on each board
in
the
correct positions.
Can you give an example of where players are not specified?
++++++++++++
I have never been able to view the movies directly from the web.
I
do
not know why this is. In any case, I have followed the
semi-complicated
instructions I had been given for 1955 and 1957 to download the first
three
segments to my computer (copy text to Notepad, then save as .lin
file).
On
no hand can I see either the board number nor the players. Bd #s are
blank
in the space usually specified in the movie, and NESW directions are
in
place of player names.
I misunderstood this phenomenon to be a change in the way the
files
were
prepared, and will re-download.

Have you tried my advice from a previous thread ?- repeated here for
convenience.
With this method i.e. associating the .lin extension with the BBO
engine
(netbridgevu.exe) I can open .lin files from the web or any place on
my
hard drive, by left clicking.

"You need to associate
the file extension ".lin" with the BBO viewer which is
NetBridgeVu.exe
;
this should reside in C:\Bridge Base Online.
To set up the association, open Windows Explorer > Tools>Folder
Options>File
Types.
Scroll down until you find the "LIN" extension ; it should have file
type
"Bridge Movie". ensure that it opens with NetBridgeVu.exe - if not
browse
to
C:\Bridge Base Online to find the program.

If you don't find the "LIN" extension, click on Add (in File Types)
and
give
it file type "Bridge Movie" and opens with "NetBridgeVu.exe"

You should now be able to open any lin file with the BBO viewer by
left
clicking it. You can then either open the files directly on Nikos's
site
or
download them to your hard drive for later viewing.
++++++++++++
I have done this association and actually can view .lin files well.
I
think perhaps I need more specification to the words "you can (either)
open
files directly on Nikos's site...." How is that done ? When I go to
http://www.sarantakos.com/bridge/vugraph/1959/1959-bb.html I get
Segments
I
can click on. This gives me a file with a bunch of gobbledygook. What
do
I
do to view it, I mean directly. I mean just what sequence of mouse
clicks,
etc. It is hardly as if the site says "click here to view movie" !

M. Hopkins
++++++++++++++++++++++
When I go to the link, I also get segments I can click on.
When I left click on "Segment 1, boards 1-16" a small "File Download"
window
appears in the middle of my screen.
This has the Bridge Base Lin icon on the left hand side with the following
info beside it:
Name : s1.lin
Type : Bridge Movie, 17.3 KB
From : www.sarantakos.com

Below that there are three option buttons:
Open, Save, Cancel

When I left click the Open button the file opens as a bridge movie showing
the score board summary for the deals in both tthe Open and Closed rooms,
I
can then click any deal and follow it through.

Alternatively, if I click the Save button, a "Save As" window appears
where
I can browse to the folder where I want to save the file (s1.lin) with
type
2Bridge Movie"

You should not be getting gobbledygook anywhere. As a check on whether
your
association is set up correctly, try logging on to BBO. Then do Explore
Bridge ->
Bridge Library ->English ->Vugraph Archives -> 2004 USBF Championships and
open one of the files there. Let me know how you get on

Denis
+++++++++++++++++
Yes, I often go to BBO and look at achive championships. When I
left-click on something like 2004 USBF Championships I get a scorecard and
can left-click on that for any hand.
Contrarily, I do not get the scorecard nor a File Download window when I
left-click on "Segment 1, boards 1-16". Instead, I get the gobbledygook
file I can then download via the Notepad method.
Let me ask. Does Nikos site require IE? I use Mozilla.
