Re: DONT PLAY AT PARTYGAMMON

It seems as though you are seeking to establish some sort of record
for the times a person can be wrong in one newsgroup post. Here are
the errors:

1. I am not complaining about TMG/XG freerolls, and I've said I enjoy
playing in many of them.

You might say you enjoy playing in them but your posts belie this
feeling. You have complained in the past about how difficult it is to
make money in free rolls on tmg. You have complained about how you
frequently lose in first round to very weak players due to bad luck.

Tell us what it is that you enjoy about the free roll.

How can this possibly compare to someone who
thinks a different site is "rigged" and costing him money? We don't
know if he plays for the enjoyment, but it's clearly not providing him
enjoyment.

You are correct that we don't know. You asked why he plays there. I
said maybe it is like you, that he has a love for the game.

2. I've recently compared BG to coin flips (jokingly, though such
obvious attempts at humor seems beyond your comprehension, regardless
of whether one things it funny or not), and the point is that it is
useless to complain about luck the way the OP does. Instead, he
should offer solutions, as I have (the "draw" idea, for example).

So you were joking about backgammon being like flipping a coin? How
would I know you were joking?

3. In the past, I've said that it was my impression that TMG/XG could
be making their dice a bit more "exciting," but I haven't said that
recently, and it's obvious (to those who read my posts) that I have
come to the tentative conclusion that BG is just not a particularly
good "money game," especially when compared to online poker.

So are you saying that you now do not think that tmg and xg are
rigging the dice to make them more exciting?

I thought that you just played for the enjoyment of the game and not
to make money.

But you also decided to play poker instead of bg because you said it
was easier to make money. So you seem to contradict yourself with
respect to your motivation for playing the game.

4. First you state that you don't know that OTB means over the board,
then make statements that support the notion that you do.

What statement did I make supporting that I knew what OTB means? You
still have not told me what it means. Off track betting? I bet Monty
won't answer this either.

5. It would be stupid for an "almost world class player," which I
always said that I thought I might be, to travel to an OTB tournament
and pay for all kinds of necessary expenses when he or she would be
playing against mostly world class players, so here you are both wrong
and nonsensical.

You are very confused Monty. It was YOU who suggested to the OP that
if he thinks he is so good, he should play in tourneys. Here is
EXACTLY what you said:

If you think that you are so good that you can make money as a
"professional," then play in OTB tournaments.

So I guess you are saying that you are wrong and nonsensical. I was
simply suggesting that you take your own advice. Looks like you only
think your advice is good for others but not for you. Narcissism at
its finest.

6. I have never "contributed" to any site.

Sure you have. When you played for money, you paid a rake. Remember
when you got all excited when you tripled your money. That did not
last long as your luck ran out.

I
no longer care, because as I've said, the game needs to be
reformulated to be more "professional." Until that occurs, I see no
reason to aspire to become better than "almost world class," if that
is indeed the case.

Sour grapes?

8. You have been informed more than once recently that I play for
enjoyment, so the longer I play in a freeroll, the bgetter, as far as
I'm concerned.

What do you enjoy about playing in free rolls? If they did not offer
ANY money would you keep playing in them? If not why not? I bet Monty
does not answer this question.

Again, as I've said before, if "tsomething comes up" I
can just quit and I don't lose any of my money. Your obsession with
how I spend my leisure time is at least somewhat disturbing.

Sorry you find it disturbing. Are you so easily disturbed?

9. With all your bluster, you still have not spoken to the point I
made to him.

I certainly have. You just did not like my point.

Apparently, he thinks he should make more money than he
is currently making at PG

I guess you can identify with that feeling.

, because he outplays his opponents by a wide
margin most of the time. I have written several posts about this
phenomenon, suggesting a draw feature. If he thinks PG is rigged he
can try playing elsewhere. If he thinks all sites are rigged, then he
should find another way to make money, or accept his winning
percentage as it stands. Nowhere in the OP is there any suggestion
that he is playing for enjoyment.

And the hundreds of posts that you have made in this newsgroup suggest
that you don't enjoy backgammon as it currently is played. You say
that you cannot take it seriously and therefore likely don't even try
to play as well as you could. You also incessantly whine about your
bad luck.

The bottom line is that you don't sound like a guy who is having much
fun playing the game which is why you have gravitated to poker. Or
perhaps you find poker to be more intellectually stimulating. But you
do talk about how you make more money playing poker. But then you say
you are only playing for enjoyment and not for money. So many
contradictions.

Cue Monty to respond to this post without quoting any of what he is
replying to and using quotation marks in a way that suggests that he
is functionally illiterate.
