Re: TMG cashout problems

I have friend, who had an account at TMG. He is a strong pro, and prior
to the Monte Carlo World Championships tried to withdraw $1300 to pay
for an airplane ticket to participate in the main event. He needed the
money ASAP, and requested a friend's aid, as the friend had a Neteller
ATM card, and he did not.

TMG wouldn't allow the withdrawal to Neteller or transferral to this
friend's TMG account, so he explained the situation to a sysop, and the
sysop agreed, but only to transfer $300 to this friend's account. The
rest was up to him.

Having no choice, the two opened a private poker table, where he 'lost'
the other 75%, paying TMG's playing rates, and tried to withdraw the
amount. The next day, still some 10 days before the WC started, both
accounts were frozen. My friend sent an e-mail (which I wrote as his
English is barely above rudimentary), and also spoke with them on the
phone. He explained his situation, but they said they needed to analyze
the case. His friend, who lost $46 in the process with this frozen
account deal, also e-mailed explaining in detail what had transpired,
giving the full details, withholding nothing. They answered that a
manager was reviewing the accounts, and would respond shortly. The
matter wasn't resolved in time, but he managed to fly to play anyhow.

Naturally, he tried to speak with their representatives there at the WC
to resolve it in person. This had been my suggestion. No luck. They
were quite rude, and gave no help. He came back very upset.

Over a dozen e-mails and 6 weeks later, having satisfied every question
regarding security, and whatnot, the accounts are still blocked, the
money is in limbo, and when asked, the manager is still 'reviewing' the
accounts.

Two weeks ago, they told the 'beneficiary', that if my friend (the pro)
confirmed this version of the events, (presumably they didn't notice
the e-mails nor remembered him talking to them at Monte Carlo), they
would clear it up. He did, as I know (I wrote the English text), and
they waited for another week. Then last week, after careful 'review',
they asked my friend to provide his full name and address, as stated in
his account, at which point they would e-mail a document for him to
sign and fax. He did so, and sure enough, 8 days later: no e-mail.

I guess the lesson is: Caveat Emptor.

Neteller cashout but TMG decided to put them back to his mastercard.
Lots and lots of support contacts from his side but TMG just says they
are having problems with the card company or simply send him automated
nonsense. He doesn't understand why they can't simply cancel that and
use the neteller one or even a bank transfer. Even if he would somehow
end up with a double cashout it's not like he would take the money and
run. He has been an active player at TMG for almost as long as I have
(and I was there when they started using real money).

Because of this incident and a previous one involving another active
player (which to my knowledge has not been resolved since February)
most of the Finns I know of actively playing at TMG have moved their
business elsewhere. Too bad since I really like the interface.

The internal joke in Finland is that once the stock crashed somewhat in
May TMG run out of money and they are waiting for it to recover before
starting payments again. The have made some changes to their
tournaments so maybe they are near bankrupcy.
