Interesting.
STATE is 2-3. TECH (home team) is 4-2
But 2 of TECH's wins came against weak-ass DIV 2
opponents, while STATE hasn't played a weaker DIV.
STATE returned 4 fewer starters his year and a
potentially weaker OL...TECH is similar to last
year though slightly improved on both lines...
STATE defeated TECH on homeground last year 30-20
although it was statisitically an EVEN game.
Now they switch venues...hence TECH is favoured by 4
HOWEVER, STATE has played a much tougher schedule
than TECH...they were outplayed only slightly in
their first game (turnovers casued a 23-49 loss)
but they OUTPLAYED Jackson to win ON THE ROAD by 3
(Jackson is rated same as TECH!; STATE *DOMINATED*
Austin Peay ON THE ROAD (TECH just lost to Austin
Peay *at home*); they played EVEN with a good
SOUTHERN squad who rate higher than either of these
teams and only lost 34-41 ON THE ROAD; then in their
FOURTH CONSECUTIVE ROAD GAME, STATE absolutely
**DOMINATED** Florida A&M (rated higher than these
two squads) but lost 17-18 when their kicker MISSED
a makeable FGA on the final play...
4 consecutive ROAD games and they outplayed those
opps, who are as good as or BETTER than TECH...
Then they just GOT A WEEK BYE! So they've had 2 weeks
to heal injuries and prepare for TECH!!!
STATE is 100% healthy!!!!
But not TECH.
TECH lost their starting QB a few weeks ago and just
last week in the 3rd Q, lost their #2 QB!!
Tonight when they face STATE, their #3 QB - who is a
TRUE FRESHMAN and with only a few series to date -
will make his first start -- ON 4 DAYS PREP TIME!!!
TECH lost 27-30 last week *AT HOME* to Austin Peay,
while STATE previously *DOMINATED* AP on the ROAD!
BEST BET!!!
