The Saturday Classic Rules


"All are Welcome to play"


(1) Name seven horses from any thoroughbred races in North America
running on Saturday.


(2) If you like, throw in an alternate selection or two, just in case
of any scratches. Two is the usual number of alternates people throw
in; you
can provide more or fewer as you deem appropriate.


(3) Make an imaginary $2 win-place bet on each horse.


(4) At the end of the day, post your own results. (For statistics
gathering purposes, please list the win and place prices for each
selection.)


Pretty simple, eh? Well, there is one technical point: This, like
most other contests on this and related newsgroups, is a by-name
contest,
not by-number. There are no coupled entries, here.


When it is all over, I'll summarize everyone's results and award
prizes.


The highest score merits the ever-elusive "Styme." Also, every fourth



week we award the prestiguous "John Henry" to the highest four-week
total.


The lowest positive score earns the enigmatic "The Boz'n." The Boz'n,



by the way, symbolizes the true spirit of degeneracy: Better than
nothing, but just barely.


And finally, for those talented enough to score a perfect zero, there
is the "Zippy Chippy." Oh, the terrible beauty of it.
