what, Iceman, YOU go first, then post when you get back."

I spent one month in Mexico in 2003.  I went all over - Guadalajara, Mexico
City, colonial towns, and a few beach areas.  I was careful in Mexico City
and Guadalajara at night, and took taxis when I had to.  Granted, the drug
violence wasn't as bad then, but I never felt unsafe.  Many parts of Mexico
are beautiful, and the people were very friendly.  Mexico City is especially
fascinating, and is loaded with historic sites, centuries-old buildings, and
colorful markets.

"By the way, where was that casino that got all shot up?  Wasn't that
in one of the main tourist spots?"

No - it was in the city of Monterrey.  It's a business city that sees few
tourists.

But that was almost ten frigging years ago. A virtual CENTURY ago.
And the article I linked, about the increased warnings, is current,
not a decade old. Dude, what are you thinking?
