By the way, what do you THINK they should have done with
an animal that had effectively brushed off getting tazed
TWICE with 50000 volts and was still coming at them? Try
to reason with him? Is that what you think they should
have done, thinking about it from your armchair in your
living room?
The original impetus of this thread was my presumed reluctance to ever say
anything bad about police or their procedures and actions.
My reference to errors on the part of the King Capture was in the
discipline
(street instructions). I believed standing around in circle playing, 'beat
the drum,' was in bad taste; not that they actually did it. Public
exhibitions of 'marginal' police procedures often lead to these sorts of
'misunderstandings' by the public. Inside a police van or in the holding
tank affords more efficient applications.
But the media did not play over and over the video of what King had done.
The media only showed an edited version of the tape, to make the cops look
as bad as they could. The jury in Simi Valley got to see the whole tape, and
they made a more informed decision than what the public could make. That is
why we have jury trials and a court system in this country. The so-called
"beating" of King was the result of King acting like a crazy man under the
influence of PCP.
The media caused the riots of 1992.
