Has anyone tried this? It is the greatest invention ever. Twenty
dollars a year for phone service. Unlimited long distance, call
waiting, call ID and a voice mail. For twenty bucks a YEAR.

Of course I had to invest in the Mgic Jack hardware, but that was
only $20.

The best part was calling the phone company and canceling my service
with the Magic Jack. The phone company talked me into keeping bare-
bones service, but I'm saving a ton of cash. Makes up for the money I
lost with PokerStars.

Just read a Boston Globe review and it says you have to leave your
computer on in order to receive calls.

Well, duh!

Do you have to turn your computer on to 'make' calls?- Hide quoted text -

Yes.

I seem to recall there is a magicJack.com website.

Last night I had a problem with MJ, I couldn't make or recieve calls.
I went to the trouble shooting page. Step by step I went through steps
to figure what went wrong. I then clicked the button to talk to an MJ
tech. Right away I was doing IM with some one named Jason. He checked
my line showed me how to update the software. He stayed on until I was
able to make a call, now I know how to do it. The whole process took
less than 5 minutes.

One thing nice is if you are not going to use the 911 feature, you
can get a phone number from anywhere in the country. That way you can
get a number that is local for your aged grandmother so she doesn't
have to pay long distance to call you.
