Russ,

As you may or may not have noticed, I have always treated you with
respect
on RGP. I know that you still have a lot of influence in the poker
world.
Heck, when I was at the WSOP last year, playing a 10/20 Omaha 8/b
side
game, the other players started talking about you spontaneously,
asking if
anyone had seen you lately. The conversation had nothing to do with
RGP
either, they seemed genuinely interested.
10-20 O8 game at a tourny is like a 50cent and one dollar blind game ..
wives and GF's of real players only . Now mention that someone at the
400-800 Stud 8 mentions his name .
And Russ has absolutely no influence in poker .. he couldnt get a hot dog
comped or a free mustard to put on it !!
As for me, I'm 24 years old, started playing poker just over 2 years
ago
after seeing a WPT episode.
so you are in fact a TVSM
I lost for about 6 months, playing low
limits, but through the help of books and RGP, became a winning
player,
mainly on Pacific Poker. I played 15/30 and 30/60 Limit Holdem and 7
Card
Stud.
I played in the WSOP last year by qualifying for 2 preliminary events
($1500 LHE and $1500 Omaha8/b), and the Main event. I also bought
into 4
other events ($1500 NLHE, $1500 Stud, $1500 NLHE shootout, and $1500
LHE
shootout).
Were all these buy ins before or after you claimed a 17,000 cash record
and were asking for more stake money to afford playing in the events ??
I learned some valuable lessons about game selection
there.
Although Limit games are among my strongest games online,
So , you won more in the limit games , than you did in the tournies ? ..
So then you won over 40,000 and needed money for these events ?
the field in
a
Limit event at the WSOP was primarily composed of middle and high
limit
live-action players. My edge was minimal to non-existant, even though
I
did finish in the top 50% of the field in every event.
Why in the world would you think that you had ANY EDGE , and people that
dont show up make it to near 50% of the field
I cashed 141st/2350 in the $1500 NLHE event, thanks to some luck and
terrible opposition. I then finished 625th/5619
Werent there over 6300 entries , at least 2 years in a row ?
in the Main Event. I
was
in the top 50 in chips after a few nice hands where I had my sets
paid
off. Day two was unkind to me, however, culminating in a huge pot
(almost
$100k), where my opponent moved in after the flop of 983 rainbow with
pocket Tens, and I called with pocket Aces, and he spiked a Ten.
"You should have seen the one that got away !!""
Still, I
kept chipping away and survived almost until the bubble, when I was
shortstacked with 15 big blinds, and elected to re-raise the table
bully
allin with pocket 55. He called with AJ, and hit a Jack on the turn
to
send me home.
I realized that No-Limit is the game to play at the WSOP, as that is
where
all the dead money lies.
So you left a bunch or all of your DEAD MONEY there?
Although I usually only play tournaments on weekends, my year has
been
highlighted by a 1st place on Ultimate Bet ($100) for $8100, 3rd place
on
Pokerroom ($300) for $5000, 3rd place on Ultimate Bet ($200) for
$14,000,
and two 1st/2nd place chops in a $22R on Stars for $7000 each.
Although I have only been playing part time, poker has provided me a
good
income, and I am leaving my job in August to play professionally.
Crafty strategy .. you leave to do it professionally ..NOW?... NOW?
Does any of this look strange to you ?
I hope this answers your questions.
