"Susan"
Are they on their own or not? Do they bear the responsibility of their
actions or not?
Yes, they should be on their own. But intentionally locking the door to
perhaps their only safety which endangers no one else is stupid IMO.
Susan, you are James are throwing snowballs and it is hot outside.
The doors to the Superdome are always locked when the dome is not in use.
The officials in New Orleans do NOT want people to come to the superdome
rather than evacuating. They do NOT reveal the location of the staging
areas for the buses because people have assigned locations where the buses
will pick them up.
If officials said that the Superdome would be available for the idiots that
disobeyed the evacuation instructions, then many would simply show up at the
Superdome and not evacuate. This is not rocket science.
Emergency services will not be denied to those that choose to stay. They
are trying to avoid what happened last time. This "preparation" will occur
this time (and it will likely not be necessary ... if history is any judge)
and the preparations will likely happen one or two more times ... but if
none of them turns out to be "necessary" ... then we will be right back to
the days before Katrina. Louisiana faces lots of hurricanes ... really,
there are a lot of them.
All this talk about abandoning people is just silly.
