Nice blank reply... stupid RGP software waste my time. Gotta rewrite all
this...
Read below if you want to see the hand results...
Ok I admit I lied when telling the HH. I actually didn't bet the turn,
and I'm totally kicking myself for it because I would have been a super
strong play. I thought about betting but was distracted by another table
and ended up just checking.
The BB checked behind me.
The river brought an 8. So the final board was 5 6 7 9 8. I checked.
The BB bet 1000 and I called reluctantly.
He tabled ten-five and I shipped him a nice pot. If I had bet the turn I
believe he would have folded.
But betting the turn is good for so many reasons outside of just looking
at this one result that I think it makes for a cool hand to discuss.
Given that turn card I have obviously just pulled ahead of a lot of the
hands in his range including all the single-pair hands and all Ace-x
hands. So betting gets value from bad calls and helps protect against
some thin draws. And the information gained makes it very easy to play
the river. If I get smooth-called I can probably continue to extract
value bets from fours, sixes, sevens and nines. But I have also slowed
down all the 2-pair and overpair hands because they have to fear that I
have an 8. Even some hands that have me beat will incorrectly fold a
portion of the time. Also, if I donk and get raised I will know to fold
and won't have to guess anymore.
Those are my thoughts. Any others?
KookieMonstr.
