I am leaving ALL of this stuff, just look at the weight of it all, and
then realize that you have not addressed my point at all. NOBODY LIKES
THE NAME CALLING.

I cut it I'll deal with your point.
Read this first :
Beldin is a fictional character in David Eddings' fantasy series The
Belgariad and The Malloreon.

He is a deformed, short hunchback with a bad temper who is always described
as incredibly dirty (as Polgara states "He hates his deformed body, so he
ignores it"). However, his outside appearance and temperament hides an
incredibly intelligent mind, and a great eye for beauty. His original name
was Din: the "Bel" prefix was added when he became one of the disciples of
Aldur. His favorite animal form is that of a blue-banded hawk, with bands of
"electric blue", a bird which he created because "he didn't like the regular
colors". He is very good friends with Belgarath, although the two argue
frequently (however, it is mentioned in The Belgariad that they both enjoy
these arguments tremendously)

I don't have a hunchback, and I do bathe regularly, but I developed an
affinity for the character a long time ago, and have integrated aspects of
him into my on-line persona.

It's a style. It tends to put people on the defensive, and often makes it
easier to beat them in a disagreement.

And it tends to amuse people watching.

You start with the Johnny-boy statement for the sole purpose of putting
yourself above your arguing opponent. Like an insecure manager who has a
chair bigger than the others.
No.
I do it so you feel defensive.
From your comment, it appears to have worked.

But I will agree that you go on, and try and make cogent arguments.

Try this, stay with the clear arguments. Stop with the name calling. And
the fun stuff. The arguments. Will become fun again. That's it. Thats
the whole point. The rest of this is largely sophistry to try and move
the point elsewhere.

Most of us want the point to move where we're pointing ourselves.
This is the nature of usenet flaming.

Just stop trying to put others down through language and name calling in
an attempt to raise your standing.

That's NOT why I'm doing it.

It doesn't work, it is not fun, and
it is not an emotionally deficient reaction to not like it. Useless name
taunting does not make your argument any better. It makes your argument
mute. Nobody will listen any more. At that point no one listens, it
doesn't matter what you think.

People listen.
Look at Dutch. Go count the number of posts he did.
The clever people listen closely. Pickle disagrees with half my views,
perhaps. He also agrees with half, give or take. He minds my style much less
when we agree, of course.
Back when I was nailing Coleman about Social security, he had no issues with
my insulting him.

It's generally a function of who's ox is being gored.

OTOH, it's words on a screen. I can take people shooting at me. Look at the
title of this thread, and others.
I didn't change it when I replied to people. I left it. I know I'm a smart
guy. If you know you're smart too, then whatever I may type here won't
affect you at all.
