How interesting the way words can be turned upside down. The desire to have a glut of wealth to expend on "goodies" for yourself rather than allow some of that income to be redistrubuted to those in real need is the very definition of greed.
The primary function of the government is to take money away from those who earned it and give it to those who didn't earn it.

The primary function of government is to serve and protect the vital interests of all the people. In order to pay for this, money is taken from people in proportion to how much they can afford.
What claptrap.
No, it's fact.
The first governments were the strongest taking what they wanted from everyone else (kingdoms).

The U.S. government was obstensibly instituted to secure and protect the rights of the citizens.
And in order to finance this activity they take money from citizens via taxes, as I said above.

Today its primary activities are income transfers. With the politically strongest taking what they want from everyone else.
No, the transfer of income is secondary, it serves the primary goal, to protect citizen's rights.

Almost invariably, the people putting forth the kind of sophistries like Dutch wrote above want the "how much they can afford" to take more from people who have more than they do.
Almost inavriably people putting forth the kind of sophistries like Joe Long wrote above are not currently vulnerable to financial disaster or worse resulting from a health crisis. If they were, they would suddenly see the value of a system which provides good medical insurance to everyone.
McCain wants to give people money and let them comparison shop for their own health care insurance. This gives control to the individual, fosters competition and incents the health care industry to control costs and improve service. Obama is a socialist who wants big government to control every thing, which provides no incentive for the health care industry to improve any thing. In addition, this is the same big government bureauracy that screwed up medicare, medicaid and all but bankrupted the social security system.

Something like that might work, but I wouldn't just give people cash, rather credits which could be redeemed for medical insurance with the provider of their choice.
Holy *** Dutch, I think we actually agreed on some thing! I agree, credits would be better. The important point is, it puts responsibility on the individual and competition in the insurance and health care industry.
I'm not convinced that competition is very relevant in the provision of basic, comprehensive medical insurance. If all medically necessary treatment is guaranteed by law, as implied by "universal medical", then I can't see how there is much use for competition.

Any time an industry has to compete for customer's business, it is incented to improve the quality of it's service and the value it provides for each dollar spent. By comparison, when all you have is a massive government bureauracy, there is no incentive to imporve either the quality or cost effectiveness of the services provided. In addition, as the government bureaucracy grows, it begins to eat up more and more of the money that was intended to be spent to provide the actual health care services. Also, the health care providers spend more and more of their time struggling to deal with the ever increasing mountain of government red tape and paper work.

And because of his inability to do any research like here...

He is making up out of whole cloth the Obama position.

This, is just meaningless drivel. Like OMG The Democrats will rot my brain. Or the Lib-tards are coming.

Wake up and look at your own vitriol guy, and stop spewing out here.
