How interesting the way words can be turned upside down. The desire to have a glut of wealth to expend on "goodies" for yourself rather than allow some of that income to be redistrubuted to those in real need is the very definition of greed.

The primary function of the government is to take money away from those who earned it and give it to those who didn't earn it.

The primary function of government is to serve and protect the vital interests of all the people. In order to pay for this, money is taken from people in proportion to how much they can afford.

What claptrap.

No, it's fact.

The first governments were the strongest taking what they wanted from everyone else (kingdoms).

The U.S. government was obstensibly instituted to secure and protect the rights of the citizens.

And in order to finance this activity they take money from citizens via taxes, as I said above.

Today its primary activities are income transfers. With the politically strongest taking what they want from everyone else.

No, the transfer of income is secondary, it serves the primary goal, to protect citizen's rights.

Almost invariably, the people putting forth the kind of sophistries like Dutch wrote above want the "how much they can afford" to take more from people who have more than they do.

Almost inavriably people putting forth the kind of sophistries like Joe Long wrote above are not currently vulnerable to financial disaster or worse resulting from a health crisis. If they were, they would suddenly see the value of a system which provides good medical insurance to everyone.
