I wonder what the proper strategy for purchasing a new card is. It

extra card more often than it is justified.

I am sure that too many cards are being purchased. But if they only
purchase when holding an Ace seems like a tremendous amount of
information to be giving out.

Yes, I thought of this as well, which is why I would recommend throwing
away only in position, always with a bad Ace, and only sometimes with a
King or Queen (to counter the information giveaway)

If too many are purchasing, than what does NOT purchasing mean?

It means lots more dead money. Not purchasing either means you have a
strong enough hand to play on its own merits, or that you intend to fold.

This is interesting because in the various forms of pineapple there is
little information in the card release.

What would also be interesting is where does this put the "best-hand"
line? One would think this doesn't dramatically improve the number of
premium hands, but maybe it does significantly.

I would think that it would, in that big ace domination would become much
more pronounced.

Are people more likely to play the hand if they have purchased a card?
Even if their hand hasn't improved, or actually got worse?

If they are making incorrect decisions about buying a new card, they are
probably making incorrect decisions about entering the pot as well.

So many juicy questions.

Indeed.
