nothing ... that made any sense at all

It's funny how when you quote only part of a post, the meaning is
subtly altered. Of course, it is dishonest to alter the meaning of a
post by snipping parts of it, but it's kinda fun.
------------------------------------

There is nothing wrong with snipping out what is not important to your
reply.

That is correct.  However, in this thread, you have demonstrated that
you and I do not agree on the definition of what is "not important".
Therefore, I asked you to do me a personal favor and not snip portions
of my post that you deem "not important".  You ignored my request.
Thanks a lot, Pickle.

Since you want to simply skip the substance of the discussion, you do well
to go for the nit-picking and continue to ignore any substantive comment..

Tell you what, Pickle.  If you want to engage in the substance of
_any_ discussion on _any_ topic with me, you are going to have to stop
snipping parts of my paragraphs.  If you continue to misquote me, all
I'm going to do is complain about the misquoting.  Yes, I know you
think this makes me over-sensitive.
====================================

There it all is, Bob.  Nothing of substance.  I have never misquoted you.  I
have never changed the meaning of anything you have ever written.  I have
never engaged in misquoting innuendo.  Not once.  You are starting to sound
quite paranoid.

Pickle, you quoted one sentence of a two-sentence paragraph, and told
me to broaden my outlook when the sentence you snipped made it
perfectly clear that I knew my experience was not universal. That
demonstrated to me that you lacked the judgement necessary to tell
whether or not what you were snipping was relevant.

We were trying to engage in an actual discussion.  You jump in and start
with nit-picking of no substance.  You have continued to make much ado about nothing.

Actually, Pickle, I was in this thread before you, trying to engage in
an actual discussion, until you misquoted me. I then complained about
your misquoting me. Next time, do me a favor - don't try to figure
out which of my sentences to quote, just quote them all. Then, when
you jump into a thread in which I am engaging in an actual discussion
we can continue that discussion on the substance instead of being
distracted by your lack of netiquette.

It's like interruping somebody in regular speech - even if your
interruption makes a fabulous and logical point, it's going to
irritate the person you interrupt.

Lately, you have been entering ongoing threads and making smarmy comments.
Look back and you will see that your comments are often lacking in any
contribution other than deprecating comments.  Any slight disagreement with
your comments, however, is met with pouting and nit picking of peripheral
matters.

Tell you what - if you quote me correctly, I promise not to pout.
That doesn't mean you can't snip out irrelevancies, but you should
mark your snips.

Here, you continue to dodge the meat and go for the cotton candy.

Tell you what, if you quote me correctly in the future I will give you
some "meat". If you misquote me again, we're going to find ourselves
right back in the cotton candy.

You might look back for some questions of substance to address, if you like.
Otherwise, I will still agree that you have hope for a new tomorrow that
will be better than today.  If you get your wish that Senator Obama becomes
president, there will not be an upheaval of importance ... we will all
notice not much change, but the changes that are made will not make us more
self reliant nor will they be leading us in a direction we should be going..

I think that we need a Democratic president now, because we have been
going in the wrong direction for the past eight years in many ways. I
don't know whether Obama would be a better president than Hillary, but
I don't think that he will be significantly better or worse based on
the difference in their health care plans.
