I always thought Gateway had a second class product with third class
support. Worst computer purchase I ever made. You'd have to pay me to buy
another Gateway.

That's interesting because I thought Dell announced that it was going to
begin opening retail stores.

has never really recovered any semblance of market share since then.
Dell's more recent issues probably stem from laptops taking over more of
the consumer market, an area where they play catchup. I had heard they
were going to start selling retail. I had not heard about stores.
Gateway tried a retail model where you would come in, play with a trial
system, then order online or at the store. It did not work.
