Michael, I am a long time poster on this newsgroup and I always preface my
subject line with an "OT" in the rare event that I post something
off-topic. Also, I am reluctant to go to any other newsgroups. For one
thing, I recently chastised some people here for being unfaithful to RGP.
I don't want to be a hypocrite.

Regarding the connection, I would want to use DSL, just like I am at this
moment with Windows. I don't understand why if they want to make Linux
more user-friendly then why don't they make it easy to create a new
connection just like you can in Windows. Btw, I chose Gnome as my desktop
environment. (mainly because when I had a choice between that and KDE I
thought of Maverick on this newsgroup and for that simple reason I decided
to use Gnome).

And with the Ubuntu issue, it wasn't installing that gave me trouble. I
tried to download it as an iso file and read that I am supposed to burn it
to a cd and then use that to install it on my system. But I couldn't do
it. I read up on it but couldn't do it. So your answer about the size of
my hard drive I think does not apply. Perhaps I will buy the disks
someday, but first I want to be happy with using SUSE. If I find no good
reasons to continue with this then I'll probably abandon it and find
something else to waste my time with.
