I would place Paris first. So many neighborhood restaurants with great food.

IMO Tokyo has a greater variety of excellent restaurants than any
other city. You can get many types of Japanese food at a much better
level than you can find outside of Japan, and every other type of
Asian food, not to mention some very good French restaurants.

If they have good Thai and Indian I guess I could ignore the fact that
most of the food is Japanese.


They have amazing Indian, Thai, Korean, and Indonesian food. Even
better than much of what you get in those countries, since the quality
of the ingredients is higher in Tokyo.

New York has somewhat better French and much better Italian food than
Tokyo, and you can get excellent Middle Eastern food, but New York
doesn't compare for Japanese and other Asian (but they are still way
better in New York than other US cities).

They have good Italian food because they are near New Haven.


New Haven has one redeeming quality!

Paris has amazing French restaurants but isn't that great for other
cuisines, except Middle Eastern.

I would be shocked if they didn't still have great Vietnamese food and
I have been told that they have great Thai.


I was underwhelmed by the Vietnamese food in Paris, and I went to
Vietnamese restaurants recommended by real Parisians. Much of the
"Vietnamese" food is bland Vietnamese-Chinese that doesn't really do
justice to either cuisine.

Didn't go to any Thai places in Paris, but there are some good ones in
London. Other European cities mostly have dismal Asian food.
