Royal Flush
Straight Flush
Four of a Kind
Full House
Flush
Straight
Three of a Kind
Two Pair
One Pair
High Card
Your typical board will consist of high cards and sometimes pairs. My
advise would be to deal out the 5 cards and first check to see if
there is a pair on the board. And work the best off that. If on that
paired board there are 3 cards that are suited check to see if there
is a possibility that there is a straight flush if not then quads is
the nuts and work your way down from there.
Typically the nuts on a random board is either going to be a set,
flush, straight or fullhouse. You will NEVER have the nuts with 2
pair, top pair, or high card. If the board is paired you have multiple
combinations of fullhouses pratice trying to figure what the nut full
house would be, but also if you are just looking for the nuts on a
paired board quads will be the nuts about 99.99% of the time.
If the board is not paired, look for straight flushes this will be the
next best hand if there is no way for a striaght flush the nut flush
will be next.
example
9s-10s-2s-Kd-Ac
The board is NOT paired and there is noway someone could have a
straight flush so a flush is next and the nut flush is best. As-Xs
Another example
7s-8s-As-Ac-2d
The nuts would be AA because that makes quads and there is no way for
a straight flush. Changing this board ever so slightly:
7s-8s-As-Ac-5s
Changes the nuts from AA to 6s-9s
alternately change the board slightly again:
7s-8s-As-Ac-6s
Changes the nuts from AA to it being the 3rd best hand because there
are 2 striaght flushes on the board
9s-10s
and
4s-5s
I know you are asking about software, but personally I think you will
get more out of it by REALLY looking hard at the board and deciding
the nuts.
