Where in hell are they going to grow that much corn (and still feed the people on the planet)? You haven't answered the question.
Anywhere.Seriously. How much unused land do we have right now? How many billions in "subsidies" NOT to grow corn?
Go look in the grain belt.... see how underutilized it is.
I pointed out that ethanol is a different "quick fix," but it has many parallels. The question still remains, where in hell are they going to grow that much corn (and still feed the people on the planet)?Growing plants for biodiesel or ethanol also takes a LOT of water, and fresh water is already running critically short in much of the world. You see, the global environment is a complex interconnected system, without easy answers or "quick fixes."Not ethanol.
Christ, man, you simply look like a retard now.
We of course don't feed everyone now.
That said, the corn we DON'T grow but could far exceeds the corn we do grow.
I've already stated my preference for an all electric transportation system. I pointed out the biofuel as one of many reasons the oil companies would bullshit.
Wow, you're as out of touch with reality here as you are on the original GW question. You have no conception of the actual amount of available arable land, and water, and the amount of corn it would take to make a dent in petroleum use. Even the tiny amounts of ethanol being used in blends and pilot projects have driven up the cost of food.
Biofuels are panaceas, not a solution. It does have the potential to help marginally reduce petroleum use while more practical sources of energy are developed.
