OT: Arming the Arabs

The US has approved over $20 billions dollars in military aid to our
supposed allies in the Middle East, such as Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
Leaders claim it is an effort to aid security in the region. Am I the
only one who thinks that is an insane episode of history repeating
itself? How does giving an already chaotic region more ammunition
going to aid in security? It surely will not help for peace, which
should be the ultimate goal...IMO.
