That sucks man! Now Hellmuth would easily lay that down. What was he
thinking about, paired board and drawing to the T high flush? He hit and my
brother in law would say easy call for jesus but I don't know how he makes this
call.

Ok, here it is, open for criticism or comments... I'm not happy about the
results, or the hand that beat me, but I'll wait and see what others think...
I
started with a pretty good table but never really got in any major
confrontations. I played 7 levels and the high point of my chip stack was15k .
I
wasn't trying to mix up it allot, and was playing "passive" for the majority
of
the tournament. I was showing allot of hands when I raised and it was folded,
and was showing nothing but Aks,Aqs,jj 4 times (one time having to lay down a
flopped set on the river to a board of 8c,9c,10s,js,7c), Basically when in a
pot
I had the goods, and most everyone at the table knew this. Not really a style
I
mind playing into the money. "jesus", Clownie gowan, and jdags(for 3 levels)
were all at my table. Iwill say that Clowie was really not what I though, and
my
initial assessment of her play was wrong. She played very well today, and was
very nice to boot.
I'm going to cut right to the chase, as I've told you all the excitement
was
very minimul up until the last hand. I hadn't been raising on the button, or
next to the button all day, and had not went after anyones blinds. 1 off the
button I pick up 3-4diam with the blinds being 200-400 and a 50 dollar ante.I
started the hand with approx 12k. I raise it to 900 1off the button and it is
folded to "jesus" in the big blind. He calls the raise and there is 2500 in
the
pot. The flop comes 4-4-6 with two spades. He checks (which isexpected), and I
figure a underbet of about 900 will look like a continuation, and he might try
to come over the top right there with a small raise (which he did).... So he
raises me 900 another 1700 to 2600 total. I IMMEDIATLY move my remaining10k in
the pot, letting him know he's beat and needs to hit.( based on my tight play,
and our previous play together) Now here he goes into the tank for a couple
minutes. at this point my raise is 7050, and the total pot is 14750. The pot
is
laying him 2-1 on his 7k, andif he calls and loses he wil have around 8k left.
He calls with 9-10spades, and proceeds to hit the king of spades on the turn,
with no pair on river for me. I tell him nice hand, mumble something
semi-under
my breath about him having to call? To which "Clownie" immediatly responds
"yes,he was priced in".. My feelings about her good play and personality
aside,
this is why I personally don't agree.....
First, Chris KNOWS I've been playing super tight, he hasto know he needs
to
hit to win, and should put me on something like qq or jj meaning he
specifically
needs to hit a spade thatdoesn't match my pair (assuming I don't have that
card
in my hole), so he should assume or deduct that at best he has 9 outs (perhaps
8
if my big pair isn't negated as an out). The pot IS laying him 2-1 as a 2-1
dog
(so basically even money in the long run IF he has the outs he thinks he has).
This is a tournament and you can't go back into your pocket when your draws
miss, and he has to know he's beat when I move in. What if I have ak or aq or
spades? He's drawing REAL THIN then. The odds are VERY close under the
circumstances, , IF all of his assumptions were correct.... 1. A flush is good
if it hits 2. I'm not already full with 6-6 (which is a pretty safe assumption
considering I would have just called and let him try to hit his hand). 3. He
is
not drawing super thin against a bigger flush. 4. He is not up against a big
pair without a spade, giving him 8 outs instead of 9. If ANY of those he finds
true, he isn't getting the right odds to call.. officially".
I think he is purely gambling in my opinion, and not only was he not "priced
in", it should have been a pretty easy lay-down for a world class player. I
think he was purely gambling.
Obviosly "Jesus is a 5 time wsop champion, and I'm not. I have allot of
respect for his game, and he won the hand, so it was obviously the right call
:)
I just like to think about hands after the fact and see what I did right, or
what me or my opponents did wrong. On this hand (other than folding preflop) I
think my decisions were pretty good. I'm sure "window shoppers" like
"doggybitch" will disagree, but it's not their opinion that I'm after. All
comments are appreciated, gambleab dodged a bullet today, even if it was 290
players away ;)
