what's the best way to prepare for playing the ME? i'm looking for tips
on stamina - (i play mainly online) tips on tells and composure - general
chip management strategy (i haven't played very deep stack poker like
this) - general nervousness quelling ideas (a beer or two, mayhaps?) - and
anything else the community can offer. so far, i'm gonna hit the caro
tells and play some nl at the casino for a month to prepare, but that's
all i've got......
thanks in advance.

If you smoke, stop now. Or get on the patch.
You can't smoke in the tournament area and it's a hike to the outside
smoking areas.
Start eating light -- less red meat, more fish and salad, fewer simple
carbs. Eat that way through the tournament. digestion takes blood from
the brain and the heavier the food, the more blood it takes. You don't
want to come back from a meal break with your body devoting itself to
breaking down red meat while you're trying to figure out if Chan
really has the Ace.
Any kind of meditation programme to let you bring yourself back down
from tilt -- there's some tricks that verge on autohypnosis. (email
me, and I can send you some sound files of one my shrink gave me.)
A lot of this will inadvertently make you healthier by dropping your
blood pressure, which will make you appear less nervous. Come to think
of it, if you've got a month, get off the coffee. Caffeine makes some
people twitchy.
come to think of it, if you don't exercise now, start, something
simple and aerobic. A good brisk walk of a couple of miles every day
-- gets the blood flowing, helps the brain. (Most of the so called
"smart" herbs and vitamins, vitamin e, gingko, ginseng -- are
basically things that enhance circulation, thus carrying more blood
and air to the brain. You'll need it -- these are some long sessions.
As to the poker, who the *** knows? Get Lucky. Practise sucking out
on overpairs, spiking nines when you need them, that sort of thing.
This isn't a four hour online tournament. It goes on for days. You
enhance your chances if you have physical stamina working.
