Flop had a 9 and two spades, turn was a third spade. Sammy called MM's
flop & turn bets, then MM pushed on the river with nothing.
My memory is that Moneymaker had position, called on the flop, raised Farha
on the turn, then followed through when Farha checked the river. Has anyone
seen it recently enough to remember for sure?
I remember it like this:
Farha was sweating it out with a cool Qs9c in the hole. For some
reason this accountant from TwoDot Montana was making him
uncomfortable. You could see the percperation forming on his upper
lip. Moneymaker had rags. Flop comes Qh, 10d, 2d. Farha thinks he's
gold but he's not certain of this new guy. The action got pretty
tense and then Moneymaker makes a move. He bets hard on the flop. At
one point Sammy gets up and slams his head into the chair. Sammy
decides to call. Moneymaker blows a kiss to the waitress and if you
watch carefully you can almost see him mouth the words, "I got this
one." Turn comes a 5d. Just like an episode of Full Tilt I can read
Moneymakers thoughts... "Holy %$#@, should I try to bluff Farha on
the grandest stage in all the land? I mean think of the comments they
will say on ESPN..." And just like that Moneymaker moves all in.
With cool and collected look of a pro on the level of Russ or maybe
Pokerchimp Moneymakers sits content know Sammy doesn't have a prayer
of making this call. The chips fell into place. Sammy folds and is
on tilt until the end.
That's how I remember it....
