Thanks.

    Gary,

Really it was just the overall experience. Starting with the trouble
booking the rooms (and "Jimmy" the poker room manager not returning phone
calls
for reservations). He had previously told me to call him regarding rooms,
as I
had 3 friends (all "name" players) that were going to travel from Vegas.
Not
one
came due to his non response. I later talked to a good friend (and final
table
chip leader!) "Young Phan" and he told me that Jimmy had arranged rooms for
"Men
the Master" and his guests. It should be noted that Men and Young were the
only
"name players" I saw other than for the final event.... Anyway, Go Young !
I think it would have been in the casinos best interest to try to attract
as
many "big names" as possible, but the turnout obviously mirrored their
effort.
Trying to deal with "Ceasers" or "Harrahs" reservations is always a pain in
the
ass to begin with, and this made things more difficult.
Other than the nitpick issues like security and poor attitudes of
casino
staff, my main other complaint was the lack of a turnout AND the poor blind
structures of satellites and events. Starting chips were a joke (2000 or
maybe
2500) for a 550 dollar satellite. 20 minute rounds and a few levels were
skipped
completely. 1500 in starting chips for the second biggest satellite they
offered
250 dollars. Leaving very limited play. These were rushed ,as were the
tournaments, and they were more concerned with the live games, as opposed
to
running a well planned tournament. A WSOP event no less that should have
some
prestige. Apparently not. Finally, it was pointless to win more than one
550
satellite since you weren't given "lammers", but were instead given a
second
or
third tournament voucher. Which is transferable, great if you're backing
someone
or willing to negotiate a deal and accept less money. 500 dollar lammers
that
could be used for 1 tables or daily tourneys would have been preferable.
Especially since it would have allowed more 550 dollar one tables to go off
each
day, as opposed to the 1 or 2 a day they had the first week of the tourney.
There are several other things that I could go into ( not allowing pot
to
be
"run twice" in big limit PLO) or the poor attitudes of the casino
employees,
or
the pain in the ass security... but I think I've made my point. What makes
me
mad is that there are several employees in the poker room that really know
what
they are doing. As a matter of fact I met "Craig" in Tunica and I'm sure
you
are
real familiar with him Gary. He would be a great poker room manager there,
as
would Shannyn or several others that I thought were very professional. The
dealers worked very hard and were very good too in my opinion. My major
gripe
was the way that the tournaments were ran, and the poor structures. It's a
nice
, big poker room. I hope they get someone that knows what they are doing to
run
it. I wish that they would have cared a little more about running a great
poker
tourney. I can't travel to many these days, and I want to enjoy the ones
that
I
do go to, especially when they are within driving distance for me. Maybe my
friend will win though, and that will be one positive :)

You mentioned "overbearing security" 2 or 3 times, am I the only one that's
curious about a potentially interesting story?

Chris

I know he is a slimmer jim, but I still can't imagne anyone bearing over
him from his own self description.
