why don't you forget about your mooched benefits for a minute and think
about how much shame your damn parents must feel that their adult-kid
still can't take care of himself even though a third of his life has
already been wasted learning how?

That's a little harsh, but you are entittled to your opinion. What about
those that live at home that contribute to the household not only
financially, bt in other ways? Perhaps they are helping their parents
have a better lifestyle. When my folks first got married, my mom lived
with my grandmother, and my Dad moved in. Within 2 years my parents were
able to buy their own home, including a mother-in-law suite. My
grandmother was in her 50s at the time. My father supported her for the
rest of her life. She died at age 99. If not for those few years of
combining all three incomes, my father would not have been able to start
his own business nor buy a house a raise his own family. My brother lived
with my parents through medical school. Med school is demanding and
although it's possible, it's difficult to hld a job. My brother got
married right after graduation, and his wife lived with my parents for a
year or two as well, until he was earning a decent resident's salary. I
don't see any problem with parents helping their kids out. Not all kids
are moochers.

And just as an aside, when he was inhis late 50's, my father's partner
embezzled a lot of money from the business nd left it bankrupt, pretty
much destroying my parent's retirement plans. My dad worked till age 75.
Finally, my brother bought my parents a beautiful house in south florida
and convinced him to retire. They were able to sell their house in NJ,
and now are able to live their retirement more than comfortably. I think
it's a matter of how kids are raised as to whether they become moochers or
not.
