Re: A woman's right to choose

She takes a risk of getting pregnant with or without contraception.
Just because she views an unwanted pregnancy as a badbeat doesn't mean
she still should win the pot now, does it ?

Our species won't advance to far if we kill babies.

That would be true if everyone aborted every baby, but you know that's
not what I said. It's like poker, you can choose to play 32o and go all
in on the river when the board is AAKK4, or you can wait for a better
opportunity. I'm saying if now's not the right time to bring the baby
into the world, then I think it's OK to wait for a better opportunity.

I argue that forcing a baby to die is worse than 9 months of pregnancy
for an irresponsible whore. I can think of many people that, if
killed, you probably wouldn't be here. Let's start with your parents.

So what? If I had been aborted I wouldn't have lost anything or gained
anything, I wouldn't have had any life experiences or memories, I just
wouldn't have existed. My mother may or may not have had another child
later, and that child would have existed, maybe in my place. Nobody
knows if that child would have been a more valuable member of society
(well it probably would have been), but chances are if my mother chose
not to have me, but did choose to have the next child, then it would
have had a better chance of a good life.

I find the 'irresponsible whore' comment troubling, I asked you in my
first post what your views were on contraception, if the woman was using
contraception, but the contraception failed through no fault of her own,
I don't see how you can say she was irresponsible. And I'm not sure
what criteria you are using to determine she is a whore, are you saying
that if she has the baby she is not a whore, but if she has an abortion
then she is?

Bottom line is this, I think you condoned an abortion and will forever
try to convince yourselves and others that you did the right thing.
Abortion is murder.

I absolutely respect your view that if a woman gets pregnant you think
she should go to term, and that your view of when life begins is at the
moment of conception, but I also respect the right of a woman to choose
for herself. I understand that your view doesn't allow for exceptions
or choices, and that you are genuinely trying to safe a life, I just
don't share that view, I'm sorry.
