My guess is because of the big implied odds if it hits the flop hard.
Hoping for straights, flushes or 2 pair or better otherwise throw it
away. I think 78s is better than 20 to 1 to hit 2 pair or better on
flop(?). With deep stacks the math with implied odds may work out.
And there's always bluff equity if your opponent misses flop. Of
course I don't play high stakes and could be totally off base.
