: The whole point of HTML is that it's supposed to work on any
: client - the browser makes decisions on display from the code
: it's given. If you've written some pages that only work at
: 1152x or higher, more fool you.
You are the fool here, not me. I only deal with HTML when the HTML
generated by Blogger gets a weird bug. Otherwise, I use the Blogger Compose
Window, which is a WYSIWYG editor. You can throw most anything, including
graphics and pictures, into the Compose window, and the resulting webpage
formats properly.
First of all, if your monitor cannot support 1152X864 at 100 hz, you are
operating in the stone age. Two of the four monitors hooked up to my main
computer are five-year-old Samsung Synchmaster CRTs which support that
resolution at that refresh rate.
Of course my main monitor, which I use for most of my work, is the Samsung
214T, which is the finest 1600x1200 LCD monitor you can buy at any price. I
thought my Samsung 1000p 21" CRT, which supports 1600x1200 at 85 hz, had a
clear sharp image with text. LOL. You should see the same text display
side by side with my 214T. What you think is sharp clear text is very fuzzy
at the edges by comparison. Even the tiniest font is sharp and clear on the
214T. I can now sit back and read text in very small fonts, rather than
squint or get up close, like I used to do.
The 214T also has DVI, VGA, S-Video, and composite video inputs. That means
I can have four different video sources hooked up at the same time and
toggle between them effortlessly. I have a Sony VCR hooked up to the
composite input. I can watch both videotapes and use the VCR as an off air
TV tuner. I can watch off-air standard definition TV broadcasts which look
almost like HDTV when displayed on the 214T.
I specify 1152x864 minimum. Below that resolution, you have to do
horizontal scrolling. Above that resolution you have some white space on
the left and right.
Yes, yes, I know. It is better if the webpage is constructed so the browser
automatically formats its output to fill the screen, no matter what screen
resolution you are using. However, some of the largest, heavily trafficked
websites have a fixed pixel width for their webpages.
If Blogger can generate webpages which a browser can scale to the monitor's
resolution, I haven't figured out how to do that yet.
If anyone knows, please enlighten me.
