So you are telling me that because you valued the life of a kid less
than that of a cat makes you on the right politically?
GMAFB here.
He leans towards the right on many issues, but he's an atheist. He gets a
gold star from me for sticking up for the cat. But he's still going to
hell
I don't claim to be an atheist. My answer on the existance of a deity
is the one the Buddha gave thousands of years ago: It is a question
unamenable to discourse.
As I have said before, if I could believe I would already believe. Even
if it dooms me to Hell, I would love to believe that my Mom is
somewhere good, where she can continue to quarell with my Aunt Francis
about nothing. And it would make up to my cousin Larry for losing so
much of his adult life to Parkinson's. You couldn't MAKE a Hell bad
enough that their being in Heaven wouldn't make up for it.
In my opinion, we're all God's creatures. Aborting babies is murder, plain
and simple. But animals deserve kind treatment also. I live in a rural
area, with lots of people who vote republican. I also see a lot of what I
would call cruel treatment of animals. If I had a ranch, with cattle,
instead of branding them and shipping them off to slaughter, I'd have pink
ribbons around their necks and name them. They'd all be pets.
Followed out worldwide, that would be the end of the species. There
just wouldn't be enough people willing to keep cattle as pets and they
would go extinct, which might be better than their situation today but.
Of course I follow your point, Turbo. So many of the liberals and
PETA-types are total phony fucks. Save the whales but kill the babies.
There are plenty assholes like that on this newsgroup. Will from New Haven
doesn't fit into that description, of course. I think his head's in the
right direction basically, but something in his life has convinced him there
is no God. I don't have a problem with that. I just don't see how any
rational and caring human being can look at the beauty in the world, in
nature, and in animals, and still deny God's existence. Kinda just stupid
in my opinion.
And I don't see how anyone can look at the mess that men, supposedly
this God's creatures, have made of so many opportunities and be so sure
that there IS a God. Kinda optimistic, in my opinion. Plus there is New
England weather to consider. Did this God outsource it for someone ELSE
to design. Is he just malicious?
Not sure where he stands on abortion. He may have stated before, but I
forget. Anyway, Paul Gee believes we should be kind to animals, AND, be
kind to unborn babies. However, we should torture communists.

There isn't any answer on abortion. Hence the issue is a heartbreaker.
If the fetuses are babies, which I am sure they are in the third
trimester, it should be considered murder. If they aren't, it isn't
anyone's business but the woman faced with the problem. And no one has
a definitive scientific answer.
Worldwide, many socialists and social democrats oppose abortion and
some conservatives don't. It is only in this country, and imprefectly,
that this lines up as a left/right issue.
Since there isn't any answer on abortion, supporting or opposing a
candidate due to her or his stance on the issue would seem futile. No
one, or almost no one, bases their vote on the candidate's stance on
the treatment of animals.
