Re: Ow, my tooth just broke

Thanks for the advice. If it were a tooth I needed or that showed I might
save it. But it's the very back bottom molar and it won't really effect me
if it's gone. Also I am sure I would have to have multiple visits and
just want to get it over in one shot. I'm one of those people who would
rather step on hot coals thenvisit a doctor or especially the dentist. My
parents have spent thousands upon thousands getting their teeth fixed.
Because they didn't have very good teeth they made damn sure we took care
of ours. Generally speaking mine are in excellent condition and I take
very good care of them.

I'm getting it pulled tomorrow. It won't be as cheap as $95. I can't go
to my regular dentist as he doesn't do gas. There is no way I could bear
this awake. I am a total wimp. So I have to have xrays. Plus they said
anywhere betwenn $125 and $250 depending on how "difficult the extraction
is." Why do I have a feeling it will be very difficult. Anyway, I'm
looking at $350 plus. It's a lot but still much better than $1,600 or
$1,800 for a root canal or crown or both.

Spend the money to save your tooth, if at all possible. If it were me,
I'd pay the $350 as a down payment and try to make arrangements with
the dentist to make payments for the balance. I've been broke many
times in my life, but somehow found the money to save my teeth. It's
worth it. Dentistry has progressed so that everybody can keep their
teeth until they die, if they really want to.

Just my unsolicited advice. Your teeth are important to your health.
Take care of them.

That sounds like a crown. I had a similar problem to chimp two years
ago.
A molar with an old filling and the filling fell out. The dentist said
I
needed a root canal and a crown. It was going to cost around $1500 out
of
my pocket and I had some insurance. It wasn't hurting at the time, so I
passed. Six months later it started hurting and the dentist could only
pull it at that point. It was in the back of my mouth so it's unseen.
No
problem and it only cost $95 out of pocket.
