I understand your point, but if Scottie Nguyen is referring to another
players cards by asking if that player has QQ beat, that's not limiting
his (Scottie Nguyen's) comments to his own hand, that's asking about
someone else's hand. He's, in effect, talking about the cards during a
hand..
